A compact out-building / addition to a house in the country.

 

Meant to be an overflow guest room, a place to get away, the freestanding structure is only connected to the house via a pergola. 

 

The design of this simple one room structure turns its back on the main house and opens up to the woods. No windows face the house. All the windows face the woods. We intentionally elevated the floor by a few steps to allow privacy for the bedroom from the adjacent pool and pathways. The single room contains an integrated bathroom, a couch for reading and relaxing, and hidden areas of storage to offer a hotel-like experience in the woods.
