English Arts and Crafts
Hampshire, England
Located in the New Forest National Park, this arts and crafts house exhibited changes by the previous owners that turned its back on the beautiful park views.
Working as the design architect, we removed the dubious additions and created an interior sequence of spaces that refocuses the view towards the park.
An extensive gut renovation and change in exterior massing transformed the two gable exterior facing the park, into three gables with an added 3rd floor study aerie with park views.
We designed and coordinated the interiors and furniture from our New York City office- delivered in time for move-in.
The interiors and furniture reflect a modern tone. The existing exterior massing and details bore a resemblance to the houses of the arts and crafts architect, Mackay Hugh Baillie Scott, whose work then became an inspiration for the proposed addition.
